Will Pedersen & Alyson Chisholm

Brief history

Alyson Chisholm and Will Pedersen arrived in McKees Mills, New Brunswick, in October 2009 and are in the process of turning their 45 acres of land into a working farm, sustainably raising a variety of foods that will be marketed directly to their customers. They have over 15 years of experience growing vegetables in British Columbia and California and are now learning about the joys and challenges of growing in NB.

Description

The couple produce organic fruits and vegetables and keep a small herd of dairy goats They offer a CSA box program and sell their organically grown produce (not yet certified) at the Dieppe farmers market on Saturdays.

(CSA)

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a concept which links consummers to local farms. Members buy a share of the produce at the beginning of the year and receive a box of food every week through the season. They can share the risks and rewards of farming and gain a better understanding of the real cost of their food, while knowing that they are investing in their local economy, culture, and food security. CSA also lets the growers focus on healthy, bountiful crops during the season as opposed to concentrating on mass production which reduces the quality of food.
