Community Spirit Award

Wednesday, June 26 2013

The United Way Community Spirit Award pays tribute to extraordinary commitment and leadership in our community made by an individual or organization. This includes outstanding contribution of time and/or expertise that enriches our community. This year’s recipient is Diane Savoie. We first had the opportunity to work with Diane in the development and implementation of our Community Food Mentor initiative in Southeastern NB. It is here where we witnessed her boundless energy, creativity and her incredible generosity with her gifts and passion around food.

Diane actively promotes the principle of dignified access to yummy and healthy food for all people and communities. She has spent countless volunteer hours in schools and kitchens celebrating the harvest of our local producers and the culinary accomplishments of our regions young people. And in addition to being the founder of Slow Food Acadie – the only Slow Food convivium in NB – she is also the best Hungry Traveller at any community Stone Soup gathering!
